Provides students with the opportunity to learn practical car maintenance skills. They will attain basic skills and knowledge needed to own and maintain a vehicle. The students will learn what to consider when buying a car, shopping for a car insurance, acquiring a title, etc.
Auto I
82011 Auto Technology IA (first semester) Grades 10 11 12 .5 credit
Must enroll concurrently in Auto Technology IA, IB & IC Requirement – By application only. A comprehensive, technical level course designed to provide students with the basic skills needed to inspect, understand and diagnose engine control systems. Students are required to purchase a pair of safety glasses at an approximate cost of $10.00. Jr. & Sr. concurrent enrollment with HCC – NO TUITION.
82013 Auto Technology IB (first semester) Grades 10 11 12 .5 credit
Must enroll concurrently in Auto Technology IA, IB and IC. A Comprehensive technical level course covering the tools, skills and techniques required to perform base engine mechanical repair and testing. This includes engine removal, installation and maintenance. Jr & Sr. concurrent enrollment with HCC – NO TUITION.
82012-82014 Auto Technology IC (second semester) Grades 10 11 12 1 credit
Must enroll concurrently in Auto Technology IA, IB and IC. A comprehensive, technical level course designed to provide students with the basic theories, equipment and skills needed to inspect and service electrical systems. Jr. and Sr. concurrent enrollment with HCC – NO TUITION.
Auto II
82111 Auto Technology IIA (first semester) Grade 11 12 .5 credit
Prerequisite Auto Technology IA,IB & IC. By application only. Must enroll concurrently in Auto Technology II A , IIB, IIC & IID. A comprehensive application level course designed to provide students with the skills with the basic theories, equipment and skills needed to inspect, service steering and suspension systems. Auto IIA is for advanced students. Emphasis will be placed on advanced technical training. Students will develop skills needed either to work in a repair shop or continue their education in the automotive area. Jr. and Sr. concurrent enrollment with HCC – NO TUITION.
82113 Auto Technology IIB (first semester) Grade 11 12 .5 credit
A comprehensive technical level course designed to provide students with the basic theories, equipment and skills needed to inspect and service braking systems. Auto IIB is for advanced students. Emphasis will be placed on advanced technical training. Students will develop skills needed either to work in a repair shop or continue their education in the automotive area. Jr. & Sr. concurrent enrollment with HCC – NO TUITION.
82112 Auto Technology IIC (second semester) Grade 11 12 .5 credit
A comprehensive application level course designed to provide students with the advanced skills needed to inspect, service and repair steering and suspension systems. Auto Technology IIC is for advanced students. Emphasis will be placed on advanced technical training. Drive Train
82151-82152 Drive Train Technology Grade 11 12 1 credit
Prerequisite: Auto Technology I completed and concurrent enrollment with Auto II. This course is designed to teach students the hands-on skills involved in maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of transmissions; including differentials, axles, and other components. This class will concentrate on lab activities and projects that will increase student understanding.
Engine Performance II
82131-82132 Engine Performance II Grades 11 12 1 credit
Prerequisite: Auto Technology I. Students will perform diagnosis and repair of emissions control systems and engine related service. This is a comprehensive technical level course designed for students to apply the advanced theory of operation, service, and repair of emissions and engine performance systems. This class is for Juniors and Seniors who have completed Auto Tech I and are pursuing an automotive certificate (ASE certification). Students will receive college credit through HCC at no cost.
Electrical Systems II
82121-82122 Electrical II Grade 11 12 1 credit
Prerequisite: Auto Technology I. Students will perform diagnosis and repair of automotive electrical systems. This is a comprehensive technical level course designed for students to apply the advanced theory of operation, service, and repair of electrical systems. This class is for Juniors or Seniors who have completed Auto Tech I and are pursuing an automotive certificate. This would also be a vital class for students attaining ASE certification. Students will receive college credit through HCC at no cost.
Mobile HVAC
82161-82162 Mobile HVAC Grade 11 12 1 credit
Prerequisite: Auto Technology I completion and either completion or concurrent enrollment with Auto II. This is a comprehensive technical level course designed to provide students with the basic and advanced theory of operation, service, and repair of the air conditioning, heating, and vehicle cooling system.
