Come celebrate "2nd Lieutenant Wyatt Hendrickson Day" on Wednesday, April 30!
3:45pm - A parade down Newton's Main Street will go from 8th street to 5th street
5pm - Recognition Ceremony in Newton High School auditorium (900 E. 12th)
7pm - Meet and Greet at The Barn at Grace Hill (678 S. Grace Hill Rd)
Youth ages 12 to 17 are invited to become a Junior Volunteer at Kidron Bethel Village (North Newton) or Schowalter Villa (Hesston) for the summer. The Bluestem Communities Junior Volunteer program runs from June 2 to July 25. Participants will interact with residents in a variety of ways, including activities, games, exercise, conversation and more. It’s a wonderful opportunity for intergenerational connections and to enrich the lives of all involved! Applications are required and must be submitted by May 9. Auditions for K-12th graders on April 28 & 29.
Auditions begin at 5:30 PM. Please plan to stay up to 2 hours.
No preparation needed—just bring your energy! You'll learn a short song and dance during the audition.
Wear clothes and shoes you can move in.

The Greater Wichita YMCA is actively hiring lifeguards and swim instructors for year-round and seasonal positions at its aquatic center. No prior experience is required, as the YMCA offers comprehensive training and certification courses, prioritizing employee candidates for enrollment. Lifeguard certification YMCA includes Basic Life Saving, CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration. Applicants must be at least 16, pass swim tests, and obtain pre-approval from an Aquatics Director. Swim instructors, certified in CPR, AED, and YMCA swim lesson protocols, teach a range of classes, including private and adaptive lessons. Benefits include a free membership, flexible schedules, and opportunities for leadership development. Interested candidates can apply online or contact an Aquatics Director for details.
